Snoring

Snoring might not only be annoying; forcing you to give up sharing a bedroom with your partner and having a negative effect on the relationship; it might also be the beginning of a serious and sometimes threatening and dangerous disease that includes pauses in breathing. This is sleep apnoea which may be accompanied by drowsiness, lack of energy, high blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. Furthermore, it may be the cause of heart attack, stroke and impotence.

We mainly find the cause of snoring in the upper respiratory tract. Along these lines a large turbinate, deviated septum, long uvula, or sagging palate could lead to obvious difficulties in respiration and be the cause of snoring, or at least provide a favourable environment.

After a thorough examination there are different treatment alternatives according to the origin of the problem, either traditional or involving laser surgery. In the nasal area there are operations to improve air flow, correct the septum and reduce the turbinate; in the palate and uvula area there is lifting a sagging palate and trimming the uvula.
